Nasri completes City move
Manchester City have sealed the signing of Samir Nasri from Arsenal on a four-year deal after he successfully underwent a medical. The Gunners announced on Tuesday that they had agreed to sell the Frenchman to their Premier League rivals as he had less than a year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Nasri had played for Arsenal in their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend but
has now completed a switch to the Etihad Stadium for a fee in the region of £24million.Roberto Mancini will be delighted to have landed Nasri after identifying him earlier in the summer as somebody that could strengthen City's midfield.
Determined
Mancini already has an array of attacking talent at his disposal but felt he needed further reinforcements to help City compete for silverware on several fronts.
The challenge for Nasri now will be to establish himself in the City side and he has been handed the No.19 shirt for his first season at the club.He will be determined to pick up a trophy after failing to claim any major honours during his three years with Arsenal.
Nasri's departure will come a huge blow to Arsene Wenger, especially as it comes so soon after Cesc Fabregas left to join hometown club Barcelona.
Wenger has been urged to bring in new faces before the transfer deadline but may find it difficult if Arsenal cannot secure a spot in the group phase of the UEFA Champions League by beating Udinese on Wednesday night.
In contrast to Arsenal, City have been busy in the market this summer and Mancini has indicated that Nasri will not be the last new recruit.
