A Statement From Shauna Magunda And Marcel Muamba

We would like to firstly thank God for answering our prayers.
Thank-you to everyone for the love, prayers and support over the past few days. In particular we owe an enormous gratitude to the Bolton Wanderers and Spurs medical teams for their quick reaction on Saturday, and the fantastic medical team here at The London Chest Hospital.

We have been overwhelmed by all the kind messages we have received. The support we have had from the fans, not just from Bolton but football supporters around the world, has given us so much strength. We have been particularly touched by the support from the football community globally.

Thanks also to our family and close friends and thank-you to the media for respecting our privacy during this very difficult time.

Even though Fabrice has made great progress over the last couple of days, he is still in intensive care and still has a long period of recovery ahead. He has asked that you please keep him in your prayers.'

Statement from Bolton Wanderers Football Club, The London NHS Trust and Barts.

Fabrice Muamba remains in intensive care at The London Chest Hospital where his condition is serious but stable.

He continues to make encouraging progress in his recovery. Over the weekend, he has been able to sit out of bed for a short time, watch television and has begun to eat. However, he will need to continue to be closely monitored by the medical team at The London Chest Hospital for some time.

His family requests that he receive no more visitors for the moment, outside of immediate family and members of Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

Fabrice Muamba's family have released the first picture of the footballer since his cardiac arrest.

The accompanying Tweet from the @fmumaba account said:

Fabrice Muamba has confirmed that he will attend Bolton Wanderers' Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

Manager Owen Coyle said: "We are absolutely delighted that we will be able to welcome Fabrice and his family back to the Reebok, and we are all looking forward to seeing him.

"It's fitting that the match is between these two clubs and that Fabrice is able to come along.

"I know Fabrice is very keen to show his appreciation to both sets of fans for their support."
