AVB: Torres not for sale at any price
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has rejected reports that Fernando Torres will be offloaded by the club, insisting his striker is "not for sale at any price, now or in the summer".
Torres, 27, has scored just five goals in 35 games since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Liverpool for a British record fee of £50 million in January and has not started a Premier League game for the Blues since their 5-3 home defeat to Arsenal in October.
With Didier Drogba emerging as Villas-Boas' favoured striker in recent weeks, speculation had been mounting that Chelsea were considering selling Torres on for £20 million.
However, the Portuguese manager has rubbished such suggestions, claiming ahead of his side's trip to Wigan: "Fernando Torres is not for sale at any price, now or in the summer".
Villas-Boas also let his backing to midfielder Frank Lampard, who like Torres has found himself regularly used as a substitute of late.
The England international has been linked with the likes of LA Galaxy and Real Madrid after falling behind Raul Meireles and Oriol Romeu in the midfield pecking order, but Villas-Boas said: "Frank Lampard is a player of massive magnitude to this club".
