Adebayor '90 per cent' for Upton Park return
By Richard Clarke
Emmanuel Adebayor is set to return to the Arsenal squad for the short trip to West Ham on Sunday.
The Togolese striker has been sidelined since hurting his thigh in the Carling Cup tie at West Brom a week ago but has a “90 per cent” chance of being involved a Upton Park.
“We could have Emmanuel Adebayor available for the weekend,” Arsène Wenger told Arsenal TV Online in an exclusive interview on Thursday afternoon. “I would rate his chances at about 90 per cent but Emmanuel Eboue and Freddie Ljungberg will still be short. Those three are the closest to coming back but the only one likely to join in is Adebayor."
The manager added that Ljungberg (calf) would be one more week, Julio Baptista (hamstring) would be two weeks and Abou Diaby (ankle) was unlikely to figure until January.
There were no new injuries picked up in the 0-0 draw with CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.
Arsenal TV Online subscribers can see the full interview with Arsène Wenger on Friday morning. In it he talks about: the chances missed against CSKA, Tomas Rosicky’s error in front of goal, the Hamburg game, West Ham’s season, the influence of their two Argentineans and his reported interested in Nigel Reo-Coker earlier this season.
