Player having a medical at Colney today


Word has reached us that a player will be having a medical at Arsenals training ground at London Colney “TODAY”

From what is being reported in L’Equipe, it is likely that this player is Gervinho. However there are rumours floating about that it could also be Gary Cahill.

Hopefully will find out who later today.

Manchester City on brink of securing ?7m deal for Fiorentina's Alessio Cerci - reports

Young Italian wide man looks set to leave Serie A for the Premier League as Roberto Mancini moves closer to finalising a deal with the club he coached a decade ago

Manchester City are on the verge of completing a ?7 million transfer for Fiorentina winger Alessio Cerci.

Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport both report that the Premier League side are in the process of closing a deal with the Tuscan outfit for the 23-year-old.

Talks have developed within the last few hours of Wednesday morning and it is said City will pay Fiorentina around ?7m for the player after the two clubs reached an agreement over the fee.

Cerci, who can play as a striker or winger, had a mixed season last term, but he burst into life towards the end of the campaign when he was a regular starter for his side.

The former Roma man joined the Artemio Franchi-based club in 2010 on a five-year deal.

Fiorentina coach Sinisa Mihajlovic will be looking for reinforcements if Cerci completes his move to City after having also lost front man Adrian Mutu to Cesena.

Palermo - Pastore likely to go

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has conceded that there is only a 10 per cent chance of Javier Pastore remaining with the club.

The 22-year-old Argentina midfielder has been linked with a move away from Stadio Renzo Barbera having arrived at the club in 2009 from Huracan for 19million euros.

A host of leading European sides have reportedly been tracking his situation this summer, with Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona all rumoured to be interested.

Zamparini, who revealed Palermo have received an offer of 50million euros from an unnamed club for Pastore, admits it is highly unlikely the player will be at the club in the coming campaign.

"The possibility that he (Pastore) stays next year is 10 per cent," he said in Corriere dello Sport.

"He is now in Argentina, calm and preparing for the Copa America. His agent is evaluating three or four offers.

"I can confirm that yesterday an offer of 50million euros arrived from a foreign club.

"The player has no preference regarding his destination. For me he is worth more than 50million euros because in two or three seasons' time, his price will be double."

Pastore is under contract until June 2015 and was the team's leading scorer in Serie A last season with 11 goals.

DJORDJIC AGREES BLACKPOOL MOVE

Bojan Djordjic has become Blackpool's first summer signing ahead of the new npower Championship campaign.

The attacking midfielder, 29, arrives on a free transfer from Hungarian outfit Videoton and has agreed a two-year deal, with the option for a further year.

Having previously worked under the management of Ian Holloway at Plymouth, the former Manchester United and Rangers player is delighted to be back in English football.

"It feels good to be back," the Belgrade-born Swede admitted. "I moved here for the first time in 1999 to join Manchester United and when I left in 2007 from Plymouth - when I was there with Ollie - my plan and goal was always to come back to England. For me it is the number one footballing country in the world.

"I'm really looking forward to this because I'm not 17 anymore, I'm 29 and this is probably my last chance to make it big and show that the talent that was there is still there.

"I don't want to let any people down who have believed in me and I'm really grateful for this chance, especially to Ollie."

Djordjic, who has also played for AIK in his homeland, will meet his new team-mates when reporting for pre-season training on Monday 4 July.
