Chelsea will step up their efforts to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain next week after securing a deal for Alvaro Morata.

The Premier League champions paid a club-record fee to bring in Morata from Real Madrid on Friday and Arsenal midfielder Chamberlain is now in their sights, according to Sky sources.

Arsene Wenger has said he "100 per cent" expects Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay at the Emirates, but the player is inside the final year of his contract.

And Sky Sports News understands the 23-year-old - also wanted by Liverpool and Manchester City - told Wenger this week that he has no intention of signing the extension currently on offer.

Arsenal play Chelsea in a Beijing friendly on Saturday before flying back to England, and the Blues plan to open talks about a transfer within 48 hours of the Gunners' Sunday return.

Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are also into the final year of their deals, but the German says his preference is to stay while Wenger insists Sanchez is "not for sale".

Chelsea have launched a £25million swoop for Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Sportsmail understands Chelsea have stepped up their interest in the England international over the past week.
Arsenal are aware of Chelsea's interest and have rebuffed initial overtures.
Chelsea will now intensify their efforts to lure him as they look to fulfil Antonio Conte's desire to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has one year left on his deal meaning he can leave for nothing at the end of the season.
Arsenal are keen to keep him beyond his existing deal, but have left themselves exposed with regards to his contract.
It leaves Arsenal facing the dilemma of losing him for nothing or listening to offers.
Ther versatile Oxlade-Chamberlain has excelled in a wing back role of late for Arsenal and would fit in perfectly to Conte's 3-4-3 system.

Oxlade-Chamberlain played as a left-wing back during Friday’s 4-3 win against Leicester. He has also been used on the right in Wenger’s  3-4-2-1 system, as a winger in a 4-2-3-1 and as a central midfielder.

Both player and manager believe his long-term future is in a central berth and he has been training in that position with England on an intermittent basis since last season.

However, it is doubtful whether he would make Arsenal’s first-choice line-up when everybody is fit and Oxlade-Chamberlain is keen to ensure he is a regular wherever he plays this season, especially with the World Cup in Russia to come.

Hector Bellerin is naturally suited to the right wing-back role, while Sead Kolasinac is likely to play on the left once Laurent Koscielny returns from a ban and Shkodran Mustafi and Per Mertesacker are fit.

Liverpool and Manchester City are thought to retain an interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain but Antonio Conte is ready to offer the player a right wing-back role in his starting 11 ahead of Victor Moses.
