Official: Galatasaray sign Fernando Muslera from Lazio on five-year deal
The Uruguay shot-stopper has received praise for his performances at the Copa America this summer and his protracted move to Turkey has finally been concluded
Galatasaray have completed the signing of Uruguayan goalkeeper Fernando Muslera from Lazio on a five-year contract, for a fee of ?6.75 million.
The 25-year-old joined Lazio in 2007 from Nacional, but initially found life difficult with the Rome outfit, where he was even benched in favour of veteran Marco Ballotta.
However, since displacing Juan Pablo Carrizo in goal, he had become an integral part of the side and has managed to transfer his remarkable form to the international stage, where he has won plaudits worldwide following his performances in this month's Copa America.
His move has been in the pipeline for some time now, despite Lorik Cana's transfer to Lazio from Galatasaray being finalised a fortnight ago.
The goalkeeper has penned a long-term deal, where he will pocket ?2 million a year, and replaces Aykut Ercetin as their first-choice shotstopper.
