Rovers secure Petrovic signing
Posted on: Tue 09 Aug 2011
Rovers have completed their second signing of the summer with the arrival of Radosav Petrovic from FK Partizan.
After a successful work permit hearing at the FA this Tuesday, the 22-year-old arrives for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year deal.
The 6'4" midfielder started his footballing career at his hometown club FK Jedinstvo Ub, before quickly moving onto FK Radnicki Obrenovac.
The summer of 2008 saw Petrovic make the move to leading Serbian club Partizan, his debut for the club coming in the Champions League in August of that year.
Impressive displays in the league and cups for his club saw Petrovic gain international honours for Serbia, firstly at under-21 level, then for the senior squad, where he would go onto make one appearance for his country at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Named in the Serbian league team of the year for the last two seasons, Petrovic has 18 caps at international level to date, scoring one goal. He is currently with Serbia for their friendly match against Russia in Moscow tomorrow night.
Rovers now face a race against time to get the required formalities cleared and FA registration for the midfielder to be eligible for Saturday's Premier League opener against Wolves at Ewood Park.
