AWARDS JOY FOR FERGIE AND DZEKOSir Alex Ferguson has been named the Manager of the Month with Edin Dzeko scooping the player accolade for August.
Defending champions Manchester United have made a fantastic start to the season, winning all three games, including the remarkable 8-2 home victory against Arsenal.
Ferguson is no stranger to the award and becomes Barclays Manager of the Month for an unprecedented 26th time in his distinguished career.
To kick-off the club's title defence United achieved a victory away to West Brom, and scored three goals against Spurs to seal a 3-0 win at Old Trafford.
The phenomenal 8-2 win over Arsenal cemented the club's place at the top of the table alongside rivals Manchester City, who also have a 100% record.
Ferguson has seen the likes of Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley slot into the first team with great success.
Manchester City striker Dzeko has been named Barclays Player of the Month for August after an outstanding start to his first full season with the club.
The Bosnian scored in both of City's opening fixtures against Swansea and Bolton Wanderers, leading the club to 4-0 and 3-2 victories respectively.
Dzeko then bagged four of his team's five goals in a memorable 5-1 away victory against Tottenham last weekend.
City are now second in the Barclays Premier League table, only below rivals United on goal difference.
The decisions were made by the Barclays Awards Panel that includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and fans.
