Villarreal CF signs Swedish International player Olof Mellberg

Villarreal CF has come to an agreement with Swedish Internationalfootballer Olof Mellberg. He will play during next season with theYellows. The experienced center back, who is 34 years old, has beenchosen among the best defenders of Poland/Ukraine's Eurocup –where hescored 2 goals- and has a brilliant professional resumé. Among hisachievements, he has been present in four Eurocups and two Worldcups,playing 116 games with his national team and scoring 8 goals.

Olof has very powerful athletic conditions, he is 1,87 meters tall,very tactic and will bring his experience for securing the Yellowdefense. The footballer comes from Olympiacos, where he won lastseason's league and cup.

Our new center back has had a physical examination earlier today atHospital Jaime I de Castellón. Afterwards he signed his contract as newVillarreal CF player for this upcoming season. Mellberg will bepresented tomorrow at 12 pm in the Ermita de la Mare de Déu de Gràcia,after the team attends the traditional 'ofrenda' to the saints ofVila-real.
