Sky Sports understand Queens Park Rangers are hoping to reopen talks with Tottenham defender Michael Dawson before the close of the transfer window.

The two clubs have agreed a fee of £9million for the accomplished centre-half but the deal hit an impasse last week over personal terms.

Sky Sports has learnt that ambitious QPR are refusing to admit defeat in their bid to convince Dawson to cross the capital.

QPR boss Mark Hughes is desperate to bring in the 28-year-old as he looks to shore up a Hoops backline that has conceded six goals from their opening two Premier League fixtures.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has previously stated he is happy for Dawson to stay at White Hart Lane, but it is thought a sale would allow him greater movement in terms of his own player recruitment.
