. . . Swans keeper fully committed to 2016Swans goalkeeper Michel Vorm has agreed a new four-year contract with the club that will keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2016.
It’s a major boost for the club with the Dutch international maintaining his superb form on the top Barclays Premier League stage since his bargain £1.5m move from Utrecht in August 2011.
“I’m delighted,’’ declared Vorm, who had less than two years of his original contract left to run. “I’m enjoying my time here very much and it is one of the reasons why I’ve signed an extension.
“I can also only see things at Swansea getting better and better. I can see a lot of positive things happening here and I believe the club has a bright future ahead of it.
“The club has signed a lot of its quality players for longer periods, which is a good thing.’’
Vorm’s commitment to the club will also be welcomed by the Swansea City faithful who voted the 28-year-old their Supporters’ Player of the Year and Away Player of the Year last season. He also picked up the Players’ Player of the Year award in a clean sweep.
“The Premier League has been all I expected it would be - and better,’’ added Vorm. “When you play in front of our fans and witness the support they give you, it’s fantastic. We know how much the club means to them.
“And I’m not just talking about the Liberty Stadium. They also travel in their thousands to away games. It makes every game in a Swans shirt enjoyable.’’
