Beñat joins Athletic Bilbao

The exact fee for the 26-year-old has not beendisclosed, but several sources have confirmed that it is close to eightmillion euros.

Beñat Etxeberria has joined Athletic Bilbao, signing a contract thatruns until 2018. The exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, butseveral sources have confirmed to ‘AS’ that the deal is close to thefigure of eight million euros that had been mooted in recent days.

The 26-year-old returns to the club at which he began his career.Coming through the Athletic youth set-up, he made his top-flight debutin 2006 (in his only appearance for the Basque outfit). After leavingfor Betis, Beñat helped the ‘Verdiblancos’ to promotion to PrimeraDivisión and European qualification. He also made his Spain debut in2012.
