Maicon's agent says player would like to stay at Manchester CityLast Updated: June 27, 2013 4:53pm
Maicon's agent Roberto Calenda says that the former Inter Milan defender would like to remain at Manchester City next season.
The Brazilian started seven games for City last term and Calenda says that he would like to make an impression at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking to Radio Sportiva, Calenda said: "He has had an unfortunate season, it can happen.
"Now he wants to prove his worth in a Manchester City jersey and achieve the World Cup's call with Brazil."
The 31-year-old, who has won 66 caps for his country but has not played for the national team since 2011, had been linked with Italian side Roma. However, Calenda says that a move to the Eternal City is unlikely to happen.
He added: "Interest from Roma? Italian football is going through a bad time economically so it is difficult to take players with this kind of salary."
City are expected to return to pre-season training next week.
