Arsenal youngster set to move to Greece


Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell is set to join Greek Champions Olympiakos on a season-long loan. Since joining the Gunners from Deportivo Saprissa in 2011, the striker has spent time on loan at FC Lorient and Real Betis due to failure to obtain a work-permit in England. Campbell has now been granted work-permit but it looks unlikely that he will get much playing time with the Arsenal first-team this campaign.
The 21-year-old impressed on loan at Betis last season and a move back to Spain had been touted. But, due to financial constraints for the Spanish club, Betis confirmed that Campbell will not be joining the club. Olympiakos have been looking to strengthen the club as they prepare for the Champions League in the upcoming season.
Campbell has not made a single senior appearance for Arsenal but is highly regarded by Arsene Wenger. A loan move to Olympiakos will provide much needed match experience for the youngster. The striker already has 25 caps for the Costa Rican national team and has scored on 7 occasions.

Joel Campbell agrees Olympiacos loan

Striker Joel Campbell will join Olympiacos on loan for the 2013/14 season.

The 21-year-old Costa Rican attacker, who joined Arsenal from Deportivo Saprissa in August 2011, moves to the Greek champions to gain further first-team experience.

He has previously completed season-long loans with Real Betis in 2012/13 and FC Lorient in 2011/12.

Having excelled for the Costa Rica Under-17 and Under-20 sides, Campbell has now established himself at senior level, scoring seven goals in 25 appearances for his country since making his debut in June 2011.

Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Joel well for his time with Olympiacos.

The loan move is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
