Omar Abdulrahman could be set for a move to Arsenal after the Premier League club approached Al Ain to take the talented playmaker on trial, Sport360° can reveal.
Abdulrahman has been attracting interest from a host of clubs since bursting onto the global scene at last summer’s London Olympic Games.
A trial at Manchester City followed his Olympic campaign, while Portuguese club Benfica tried to sign the 21-year-old during the January transfer window.
As first revealed by Sport360°, there are“many offers” for Abdulrahman, one of which was thought to be Arsenal, but the midfielder’s future remains in the hands of the Al Ain hierarchy.
Al Ain have now admitted that Arsenal are indeed one of those clubs interested in Abdulrahman’s services, and Rashid bin Mubarak Al Hajri, deputy chairman of the club’s board of directors, confirmed to Sport360° Al Ain will not stand in the player’s way should he wish to move.
“Have we had an offer from Arsenal for him to come to train? Then yes,” said Al Hajri. “We’ve also had offers from Spanish teams, and other teams also, but the player will decide ultimately. We got a lot of offers for Omar.”
Al Hajri was keen to stress that Abdulrahman is settled at the club, adding: “Omar is very happy here, but we won’t stop anybody making an offer.

“If he finds the right environment, then we will be very supportive. It’s a package that will have to be right, where he can improve his football. I’ll leave that for Omar – that’s for him to decide.”
Abdulrahman has enjoyed a stellar 12 months for both club and country. After a starring role in the UAE’s Olympic tournament, the playmaker led the Whites to Gulf Cup of Nations glory, where he was named player of the tournament.
Domestically, Abdulrahman was instrumental in Al Ain’s successful league title defence, creating 16 assists and scoring eight goals as The Boss retained the title by an 11 point margin.
Abdulrahman’s efforts have not gone unnoticed by the world’s media, with the UAE star recently named number 39 in Goal.com’s Top 50 players of 2013, ahead of such illustrious contemporaries as Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo, and Colombian winger James Rodriguez.
If Abdulrahman opts to join Arsenal for a trial, he will follow in the footsteps of international teammate Amer Abdulrahman (no relation), who recently enjoyed a two-week stint at Championship club Blackburn Rovers.

Omar Abdulrahman: No trial at Arsenal

Al Ain have no intention of letting UAE star Omar Abdulrahman join Arsenal on a one-week trial but are prepared to entertain outright transfer bids.
Last week, the Emirati outfit are reported to have received an official letter from Arsenal inviting the 21-year-old to train at their London Colney base ahead of a possible move.
But Al Ain chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed says Abdulrahman does not need to show his qualities in unnecessary trial stints and the club will only listen to serious offers.
"Omar Abdulrahman is a national treasure, which is why the club is keen to study with great attention only serious offers that are beneficial to the player," he is quoted by The National.
"Omar is above having to go on trial to prove his skills, as he has played high-quality league and international matches, which are the real test.
"Any club willing to recruit Omar can check his performance in all his games and then submit a serious offer to sign him. If there is one, we are ready to negotiate with the team and reach a compromise."
