STOKE CITY have completed the signing of winger Oussama Assaidi on a season-long loan from Liverpool.


The 25 year old Moroccan international completed the formalities of his move to the Britannia Stadium earlier today and becomes manager Mark Hughes’ fourth signing of the summer
behind Erik Pieters, Marc Muniesa and Juan Agudelo. Hughes said: “Oussama had a few options and I’m delighted he has chosen to join us. He’s an exciting player,
who has great pace and is very direct and will certainly add another dimension to what we already have at the Club.”


Chief Executive Tony Scholes said: “Mark identified the need to add more pace to the team and Oussama certainly fits the bill in that regard.
“He is an exciting talent and will certainly strengthen the resources at Mark’s disposal this season.”
Assaidi joined Liverpool from Dutch side Heerenveen last summer and made four Premier League appearances in his first season at Anfield.
He scored 20 goals in 68 appearances for Heerenveen.
He started his career in Holland with Almere City before moving to De Graafschap where he got his first taste of top-flight football.Assaidi has been allocated squad number 24.

Assaidi reveals turning down other top-flight clubs in favour of moving to Stoke

OUSSAMA ASSAIDI has revealed that he turned down offers from a number of other Premier League clubs in favour of penning a season-long loan agreement at the Britannia Stadium.

The Moroccan international put pen to paper on a deal with the Potters on Tuesday morning after the Club agreed an arrangement with Liverpool to acquire his services
for the rest of the 2013/14 campaign.

The 25-year-old, who arrived at Anfield from Heerenveen twelve months ago, says that the ambition and playing style of Mark Hughes made a move to the Britannia Stadium
a far more attractive proposition than any of his other options.

“I spoke to the manager here, he told me his hopes for the season and how he sees me fitting into the team and he made it a very attractive move for me to be honest,”
Assaidi told stokecityfc.com.“He plays football the right way, the way that I want to play, and it was quite an easy decision for me to make in the end.

“I came to the game on Saturday and watched the match and I was impressed. I feel I can fit in here well and help the team to progress.”

He added: “I had a number of options available to me but I really feel that this is the best one for me. I am excited about what the season holds for us.”

Having completed what he described as a ‘dream move’ to Anfield twelve months ago, Assaidi admits that his initial year in the Premier League panned out somewhat differently
than he had hoped. “It was frustrating last season, especially having not been given too many opportunities on the pitch, but I am here now and
I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League.

“When I did play last season I thought I did well, and the experiences I did have on the field has given me an understanding of what to expect in the Premier League.”

For the supporters who aren’t too familiar with the forward, then what can we expect from the Moroccan international?

“I don’t like talking about myself as a player, so I will let the fans decide what are my best attributes,” he laughed.

“I am a forward thinking player though, and I enjoy scoring goals and helping to make goals.”
