Federico Macheda takes his seat at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday to watch Doncaster draw 0-0 with Huddersfield Town.
Federico Macheda is thought to be on the verge of sealing a loan move to Doncaster Rovers. The
Manchester United outcast was at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday to watch Doncaster draw 0-0 with Huddersfield Town. Post-game, Rovers boss Paul Dickov, who made an enquiry for the 22-year-old last month, refused to comment on Macheda’s presence.
But, according to Star sources, the young Italian striker is thought to be close to agreeing a temporary switch to the Keepmoat Stadium
in an attempt to kick-start his stalled career.
Macheda burst onto the scene at Old Trafford, scoring in his first two appearances to help the Red Devils secure the 2009 Premier League title.
But he has hit the net just twice in the last three seasons, a barren spell which has included unsuccessful loans at Sampdoria, QPR and Stuttgart.
Macheda has been frozen out at United and he is expected to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this season. His potential arrival at Rovers would intensify competition for places in attack and a deal could even be completed for him to make his debut at Watford tomorrow.
