Defender on loan for rest of season

CITY can confirm the signing of Nigerian international central defender Joseph Yobo on loan deal until the end of the season
from Turkish side Fenerbahce, subject to international clearance and governing body approval.

Yobo, 33, played for Standard Liege, Marseille, Tenerife and Everton before joining Fenerbahce in August 2010.
Initially joining Everton on loan from Marseille, he made a total of 258 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees and scored ten goals.

Commenting on the transfer City boss Chris Hughton said: "As most know we’ve got a problem with Michael Turner,
who’s got a hamstring pull which will continue to keep him out for a fair amount of time, so it’s an area we needed to fill.
Of course what Joseph is about is that he’s someone who knows this division very well, and has great experience."

Transfer News: Norwich City in talks with Joseph Yobo

Norwich are in talks with Fenerbahce as they try to secure a loan deal for defender Joseph Yobo.

The former Everton player left Goodison Park in August 2012 and played against Arsenal in their Champions League qualifier in August.

Yobo appears close to a return to the Premier League though as Canaries boss Chris Hughton looks for new recruits to help boost his side's survival campaign,

having already signed midfielder Jonas Gutierrez on loan from former club Newcastle.

A post on Fenerbahce's official Twitter feed read: "Negotiations over the hire of our player Joseph Yobo to Norwich City until the end of the 2013-2014 season have begun."

Hughton has also been linked with a trio of centre-backs - Blackburn's Scott Dann, Newcastle's Steven Taylor and Lazio defender Michael Ciani.

Norwich are 12th in the table but lie just five points above the relegation zone after drawing 0-0 with Newcastle on Tuesday night.
