Ligue One: Thiago Motta pens new Paris Saint-Germain extension



Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta has signed a contract extension that commits him to the capital club until 2016.

The 31-year-old Italy international, who joined PSG from Inter Milan for 10million euros in 2012,

has made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 leaders so far this season.

A tweet from the club's official account read: "Paris St Germain are happy to announce the extension of Thiago Motta's contract until 2016."

On Tuesday night Motta played all 90 minutes as PSG beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 in the first leg of a last-16 pairing in the Champions League.

The Brazil-born player told psg.fr: "I am very happy that I can play for Paris St Germain until 2016.

"My intention was to continue playing for this team so now everything is fine for me.

"I will keep my feet on the ground and continue to work as I have before, to help PSG to win titles."

Motta, who has been capped 16 times for Italy, also numbers Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Genoa among his former clubs.

THIAGO MOTTA EXTENDS PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN CONTRACT UNTIL 2016

Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the 12-month contract extension of Thiago Motta.
The Italian international midfielder is now tied to the club until June 2016.



Crowned French Ligue 1 champion and winner of the Trophee des Champions in 2013, Thiago Motta has played 65 matches for Paris Saint-Germain
and scored eight goals in two years. The former FC Barcelona (225 matches, 21 goals) and Inter Milan (83 matches, 12 goals) player,
has played 56 matches in the UEFA Champions League, a competition he won in 2006 and 2010.
Thiago Motta has also been crowned champion in three different countries (Spain, Italy and France) and played 18 times for Italy.
"I am very happy to continue following my dreams with Paris Saint-Germain.
I want to help the Club reach their ambitious goals, both in France and in Europe", said Thiago Motta after signing his new deal.
"We are very proud to extend Thiago Motta's stay at the club. He is an exceptional player on the pitch and an elegant man off it.
