Atletico Madrid midfielder, Tiago Mendez has decided to leave the club and rejoin his former club Chelsea, in order to get the final “big contract” of his career. According to Spanish sports daily, Marca, Tiago has given his all of Atleti,
even agreeing to cut his salary due to his faith in the club’s ability to compete for major titles this season while at the same time forgoing lucrative offers from England and Turkey.
While the club did win a historic La Liga title and before the Champions League final in Lisbon,
he admitted that he is as Colchonero as they come,
the 33-year-old has made up his mind to leave the club on a free transfer and join Chelsea. The report goes on to state that Tiago’s decision his purely for business reasons, as his heart still belongs at the Vicente Calderon and despite the club offering a new two year contract,
Tiago’s mind his made up and he will communicate his final decision in the coming days.

Jose Mourinho is looking to bring midfielder Tiago back to Chelsea when his contract with Atletico Madrid expires in June, according to reports in Spain. The Portuguese midfielder previously had a spell at Stamford Bridge between 2004 and 2005.
