Reports: Dudu Aouate reaches agreement to purchase Real Mallorca
Former Real Mallorca goalkeeper Dudu Aouate has reached an agreement to buy the club, according to various reports on the island.
Talks between the 36-year-old, who left the club this summer after his contract expired, and the club had seemingly broke down with Biel Cerda reluctant to sell.
But talks resumed and Aouate is expected to complete the purchase of the club imminently.
Majority shareholder Llorenc Serra Ferrer is happy to waive any fee to transfer his 49% share to the Israeli whilst a ?3 million fee for Biel Cerda’s 5% share has been settled.
Pedro Terrasa would retain his 26% share and German Utz Claassen would retain his 20% share, but Aouate’s 54% would give him a majority.
Talks are set to be concluded as early as tomorrow (Friday) with Aouate to be announced as the club’s General Manager.
Roman Abramovich is rumoured to be funding the group, but his ownership of Chelsea means he’s unlikely to reveal his involvement.
But reports suggest that Mallorca will see big budget increases allowing them to be strong promotion favourites,
although being very late in preseason causes a problem. Should the money not be made available, Abramovich’s involvement can be dismissed.
Friend and fellow Mallorca icon Jose Nunes is expected to be brought back to the club by Aouate, although his role is unknown.
That is if Biel Cerda doesn’t throw a late spanner in the works like he did the last time this deal was expected to be signed.
