Newcastle have signed French striker Emmanuel Riviere from Monaco for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old arrives on Tyneside on a long-term contract and is manager Alan Pardew’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.

Martinique-born Riviere joined Monaco from Toulouse in January 2013

and helped the club win the Ligue 2 title in his first few months - and scored 13 goals in 36 games for the club last season.

"I'm very happy to be here at Newcastle," Riviere told Newcastle’s website. "When the club spoke to me I said yes immediately.

It was an easy decision because Newcastle is a big club with great fans and a good stadium.

"My dream was always to play in the Premier League and Newcastle have given me the opportunity to realise that."

Pardew said: "This is an important signing because the striking area is one we really had to improve.

"We have looked at Emmanuel for a while and we know he will score goals for us.

"He is quick, hungry for success and will love having 50,000 Geordies cheering him on and singing his name.

"I am really looking forward to integrating Emmanuel in the group and cannot wait to see him in action for us."

and France midfielder Remy Cabella have all arrived at St James' Park ahead of the new season.

Emmanuel Riviere to undergo medical ahead of Newcastle switch

Striker Emmanuel Riviere has arrived in Newcastle for a medical ahead of his move from Monaco, Sky sources understand.

The Magpies have already picked up four new signings during a busy summer and the France U21 player is edging closer to a deal, believed to be worth around £6m.

Spanish striker Ayoze Perez, former Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback, Dutch international Siem de Jong and France midfielder Remy Cabella have already arrived at St James' Park.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has funds available to reshape the squad after Arsenal agreed to pay £10m for full-back Mathieu Debuchy.

De Jong played in an advanced role and scored in the 2-1 defeat to League One Oldham on Tuesday,

and Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has suggested the midfielder could do so on a regular basis if required.

Riviere's capture would begin to address that particular issue, although it would be unlikely to end the Magpies' search

for reinforcements with Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette among a series of other potential targets.

France U21 international Riviere made 30 appearances for Monaco last season and scored 10 goals.

Meanwhile Netherlands international defender Daryl Janmaat is close to completing a move to Newcastle.

Emmanuel Riviere has become Newcastle United's fifth signing of the summer, after completing a switch from Monaco.
The 24-year-old French forward, has agreed a long-term contract on Tyneside and arrives for an undisclosed fee.
Born in Martinique, Riviere joined Saint-Etienne from local side Espoir Sainte-Luce in 2005 and rose through their ranks before making his debut in January 2009.
Two-and-a-half years later, the front man was on the move again, this time to Toulouse, where he was a teammate of current Magpie Moussa Sissoko.
Riviere's form for le Tefece caught the eye of Monaco, who secured his services in January 2013.
The former France Under-21 international helped fire Monaco to the Ligue 2 title in his first few months at the club,

利維亞尼正式做喜鵲



紐卡素已經正式羅致摩納哥年輕鋒將利維亞尼，雙方簽署了一份長期合約，但合約詳細內容沒有獲披露，
而據英國傳媒報道，利維亞尼的轉會費大約是500萬鎊（約6,650萬港元）。
現年24歲的利維亞尼，是喜鵲今夏收購的第5位球員，亦是該隊陣中第7名法國球員，
他說︰「踢英超是我的夢想，紐卡素讓我有機會將夢想實現。」
而領隊柏度則表示，利維尼亞是重要收購，因為前鋒線正是我們確實改善的地方。
