Transfer news: Hatem Ben Arfa leaves it late to join Hull City on loan Hull City have signed midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa on a season-long loan from Premier League rivals Newcastle. Frenchman Ben Arfa is out of contract at the end of the season and had been completely frozen out of the first-team picture at St James’ Park.
He was placed in the reserves by Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, who questioned his professionalism and said there was no way back for him with the club.
He recently turned down a move to Turkish club Besiktas and didn’t want to drop down to the Sky Bet Championship, where Birmingham City were interested in signing him.
Hull emerged as the most serious suitors late on Deadline Day and they were granted an extension to get a deal completed.
And Sky Sports News were able to get pictures, just before 1am,
of the 27-year-old putting pen to paper on his deal with the Tigers before sharing a hug with boss Steve Bruce, who was finally coming to the end of a busy day.
“Hatem is a superb addition to the squad, and brings a lot of attacking flare,” said Bruce. “We look forward to welcoming him to the club.”
Bruce was also able to push through deals for Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez,
West Ham playmaker Mohamed Diame and Palermo's Uruguay striker Abel Hernandez, whose move to the KC Stadium reportedly broke the club’s transfer record.
