Deschamps extends France deal France head coach Didier Deschamps has extended his contract with the French Football Federation (FFF) until after the 2018 World Cup. The 46-year-old's previous deal was due to expire after Euro 2016 in France, but Deschamps has now committed himself to the national team beyond that by inking a two-year extension to his existing contract. "Didier Deschamps has extended his contract until after the next World Cup in 2018," a statement on the federation's website reads.
"At president Noel Le Graet's initiative, the FFF's executive committee has decided to extend Deschamps' contract as national team coach until after the 2018 World Cup.
"The coach will be accompanied by his assistants Guy Stephan and Franck Raviot to carry out his mission until the next World Cup."
Deschamps has been in charge of France ever since replacing Larent Blanc after Euro 2012.
He guided France to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where les Bleus were eliminated by eventual winners Germany in the quarter-finals.
The former holding midfielder previously coached Monaco, Juventus and Olympique de Marseille.
