Robin van Persie 'humbled' after Fenerbahce unveiling

Robin van Persie said he was “humbled” after being unveiled as a Fenerbahce player in front of thousands of his new supporters in Istanbul.

The Dutchman was presented in front of singing and chanting fans after completing his £4.75m move from Manchester United.

The 31-year-old spoke briefly, in English, to the supporters at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium and said he would do his best to help the club win as many trophies as possible.

He told supporters: “I am humbled to see that so many great fans came today to greet me and to welcome me into your family.

“I will try to learn Turkish very fast because I think it is very important that you adapt to the country you are living in and I am now part of the Fenerbache family so I will adapt to the country and to you.

“And I promise you one thing – I will do everything in my power to help Fenerbahce win many trophies to make you guys happy. Because I can only imagine, if I see today, how it would be if we win the league, what kind of party that will be. I hope I can share that with you guys.

“Let’s do it together.”

Van Persie joined United from Arsenal in 2012 for £24m and won the Premier League in his first season at Old Trafford. He struggled with injury last season, however, and managed just 10 goals.

Despite captaining Louis van Gaal’s Holland side to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Brazil last summer, the now-United manager has allowed the striker to leave the club.

Man United yet to agree fee for Van Persie, despite him being unveiled as a Fenerbahce player

Manchester United have still not agreed a fee with Fenerbahce for the transfer of Robin van Persie even though the striker has already been unveiled by the Turkish giants.

Van Persie flew to Turkey on Sunday before completing a medical the following day and then agreeing terms on a three-year contract.

The 31-year-old then appeared at a grand unveiling ceremony at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul on Tuesday.

Thousands of fans gathered outside Fenerbahce's stadium to welcome the striker and the player spoke of his delight at joining the club, but Press Association Sport understands the deal has not been completed yet as both teams have yet to agree a fee.

United do not expect to receive a big sum for the Dutchman given that he turns 32 in three weeks' time.

A figure of around £5million has been mooted for the forward, who scored just 10 goals for the club last term.

United are on the lookout for a replacement for Van Persie. Paris St Germain's Edinson Cavani is on their radar and the club retain an interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane, even though they realise it will be extremely difficult to prise him away from White Hart Lane.

著住黃黑直間波衫既 RVP，照計應該係呢次既主角，點知就畀佢囝囝沙基爾（Shaqueel、左）搶晒風頭。

之前都有講過年僅七歲既沙基爾年紀細細但腳法好唔錯，佢跟住爸爸落球場一齊「的」波，之後有樣學樣大腳踢個波去觀眾席，氹得大家好開心。

Robin van Persie's Fenerbahce move finalised

Manchester United confirms that the transfer of Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce has now been fully completed.

While the striker was presented to the media by the Turkish club earlier this month, the paperwork required in order to release his international registration certificate was not finalised until this week.

The Dutchman joined the Reds on 17 August 2012 and enjoyed a debut campaign to remember, making 48 appearances and scoring 30 goals - including 26 in the Barclays Premier League as Sir Alex Ferguson's men claimed the club's record 20th title.

A last-minute winner away at Manchester City was one of van Persie's most important strikes in that season, and he hit a memorable hat-trick in the 3-0 victory over Aston Villa that sealed the championship in what proved to be Sir Alex's final term as manager.

Van Persie followed up by netting 18 times and playing 28 games during his second season, 2013/14, before ending the 2014/15 campaign with a tally of 10 from 29 matches.

His final goal for the club came from the penalty spot, in the 3-1 win over Burnley at Old Trafford in February.

Everyone at the club would like to wish Robin well for the future as he links up again with Nani, who also joined Fenerbahce recently.
