Queens Park Rangers have sacked Chris Ramsey, with Neil Warnock returning to the club as interim head coach. Ramsey's contract at Loftus Road, which ran until the summer of 2018, has been terminated with immediate effect following back-to-back defeats to local rivals Brentford and Derby County which have left the west London club in 13th place in the Sky Bet Championship table, six points off the play-off positions. QPR have endured a mixed start to life back in the second tier following relegation from the Premier League last season, winning just five of their opening 15 matches.
"We've made this decision in the best interests of the football club," QPR director of football Les Ferdinand told the club's official website.
"It's no secret that we expected to sell some key players in the summer transfer window, and as such, our target at the start of the season reflected that.
"However, keeping these players at the club has seen the mandate change, owing to what we believe this squad is capable of.
"We're all desperately disappointed it hasn't worked out with Chris. He has had to deal with this shift in expectation and has worked incredibly hard in doing so."
Ramsey was placed in temporary charge following the resignation of Harry Redknapp in February, but was unable to prevent the club suffering relegation from the Premier League.
He was appointed as the club's permanent head coach in May, despite winning just three of his 15 Premier League matches in charge, signing a three-year contract. The 53-year-old, however, has been unable to provide an upturn in form and has been relieved of his duties just three months into the season.
Warnock returns to QPR on an interim basis with the club set to undergo an "immediate recruitment process" as they begin a search for a new full-time head coach. 
The 66-year-old enjoyed a successful two-year spell with QPR between 2010 and 2012, leading them to the Championship title in his first full season in charge. Warnock's first game back will come at home to Preston North End on Saturday.
