Petr Cech equalled the Premier League record for clean sheets with his shutout against Aston Villa. Arsenal's 2-0 win at Villa Park was the 169th time Cech has kept the opposition at bay in England's top flight, equalling David James' record. The Czech Republic international kept 162 clean sheets during his 11 years with Chelsea, where he helped the Blues to four Premier League titles. Cech joined Arsenal in a £10m deal last summer and has impressed for the Gunners, going unbeaten in seven top flight fixtures to help the club to the Premier League summit.
The shot-stopper will have his first opportunity to become outright holder of the record when Arsenal host Manchester City on Monday Night Football on December 21.
Cech and James have kept 18 more Premier League clean sheets than second-placed Mark Schwarzer, who is currently Leicester City's reserve stopper.
The only other active Premier League goalkeeper on the list is Tim Howard, who ranks ninth with 129 blanks.
