The Danish international broke into the Bayern first-team as a 17-year-old under Pep Guardiola but spent last season on loan at Bundesliga rivals Schalke
Southampton are set to sign Bayern Munich's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in a £12million deal. Hojbjerg, 20, is set for a move to the Premier League after growing frustrated at being overlooked for a first-team place at Bayern. And the player's agent, Soren Lerby, has confirmed that a move to St Mary's is set to take place in the coming days."Yes, I can confirm that Pierre will switch to Southampton" the player's agent, Soren Lerby, told Ekstra Bladet.
Hojbjerg will become the Saints second signing of the summer, following on from Nathan Redmond, and the first of the Claude Puel era.
The Danish midfielder, is leaving the Allianz Arena on a permanent basis, following loan spells with Augsburg and Schalke in the last 18 months.
Having arrived from Brondby in 2012, he broke into the Bayern side as a 17-year-old - making only his third senior appearance in the 2013 German Cup final - his career at Sabener Strasse has stalled.
Die Roten's big-money move for Portuguese sensation Renato Sanches, adding him to an already crowded crop of first-team midfielders, has persuaded Hojbjerg that he needs to leave the club to make the most of his career.
He recently told Danish newspaper BT: "I want to leave and find the right place to develop. I have to find something that suits me, not necessarily a top club, but a place where there is perspective."
Hojbjerg has 17 caps for his country since making his international debut in 2014.
