Crystal Palace will be without loan striker Loic Remy for up to eight weeks because of a thigh injury. The 29-year-old, who is yet to feature in the Premier League this season, suffered a thigh problem during a training session on Monday and returned to his host club Chelsea to receive treatment. Speaking ahead of Saturday's visit to Middlesbrough, Palace boss Alan Pardew said: "Remy's got a tear in his thigh. It's an area where recovery is difficult, so we have to be very, very careful. "We're so disappointed, because he's looked great. We have enough cover for now, but look forward to his return in seven to eight weeks.
"He's a player who would have really affected the first team, but I still have very, very good players here of course."
The France forward joined Palace from Chelsea on a season-long loan last month, having largely found himself on the bench since arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2014. During his time at the Blues, he scored eight goals in 32 games.
Palace have started their new league season with one point from their opening three games, but they can at least call upon former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini who joined on Thursday on a one-year contract.
Pardew added: "Whenever I watched Arsenal when Mathieu was in the side, he always gave them that winning mentality - that will to get over the line.
"That mentality is what I want to add here. So he can be the figurehead of that move. He'll be pushing the likes of Joe Ledley and Yohan Cabaye - and I think he will push them very, very hard."
