Where will Bernard fit into Marco Silva's plans at Everton?A tactical look at how Brazilian recruit could be utilised within Blues system
Bernard is due to fly into England today to complete his free transfer to Everton.
The Brazilian playmaker emerged as a shock target for the Blues on Monday night and a deal is now expected to be wrapped up in the next 24 hours.
But where will the Brazil international fit into Marco Silva's plans?
Bernard is joining Everton on the back of a season in which he played 29 times, scored 10 goals – three in the Champions League – and made four assists.
Shakhtar coach Paulo Fonseca, considered for the Blues job earlier this year, has been credited with reviving Bernard's career with the Ukrainian club by playing him on the left wing in a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 system.
Everton boss Silva plans on playing £40m signing Richarlison on the left of a front three this term - although says the 21-year-old can operate across all positions in attack – and counts Ademola Lookman as his other option for that side of the pitch.
So where does that leave Bernard?
Although another who is said to be comfortable in a variety attacking positions,
the Brazilian's arrival could allow Silva to play his preferred 4-3-3 formation – with just one holding midfielder.

So far this summer, Silva has played with just one player in behind the striker and a second defensive midfielder alongside Schneiderlin but Bernard's impending arrival could now offer him the flexibility he wants.
But what about Bernard as an option on the left?
Richarlison is versatile enough to move inside or onto the opposite flank to allow the diminutive Brazilian to play on the flank if Silva sees fit.
What is clear is that Bernard offers the Everton boss versatility, creativity and a player comfortable in possession.
