Liverpool's Andy Robertson closing in on new five-year deal
Left-back close to agreeing improved terms at Anfield
Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson is close to signing a new five-year contract.
The Scotland captain is being rewarded with improved terms in recognition of his outstanding form so far this season.
Negotiations are at an advanced stage with Robertson set to commit his future to the club until the summer of 2024.
The 24-year-old fans' favourite has proved a massive hit at Anfield since his £10million move from Hull City in 2017.
After a difficult start when he found himself behind Alberto Moreno in the pecking order, Robertson flourished under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp and firmly established himself as Liverpool's first choice left-back.
Earlier in the season Liverpool had insisted that talks over a new deal wouldn't take place until the summer, but his eye-catching contribution in recent months triggered a change of heart.
Defensively rock solid and a threat going forward, Robertson has played a key role in the Reds' pursuit of the Premier League crown.
