West Bromwich Albion manager Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed he is still trying to sign Liverpool striker David Ngog.
Di Matteo has spent the past few weeks pursuing a deal for the Frenchman as he continues his quest to add to his squad following promotion back to the Premier League.
And, ahead of the Baggies' opening match of the season against Chelsea on Saturday, Di Matteo is not giving up on a move for Ngog.
"Ngog is a player we've been linked with and we are working on that one," said Di Matteo. "We're trying. It's ongoing.
"We are looking at a number of players we would like to sign."
However, Di Matteo may find persuading Liverpool to part with Ngog a tricky task after the youngster impressed during the recent Europa League play-off against Rabotnicki.
Ngog scored three of Liverpool's four goals during the tie and new Reds boss Roy Hodgson has stated he is not looking to let the forward leave.
The 21-year-old is also expected to lead the line for Liverpool's opening Premier League fixture against Arsenal on Sunday with Fernando Torres unlikely to be fit.
