OFFICIAL: Loic Remy Joins Olympique Marseille From Nice After Passing Medical
The France international was diagnosed with a heart condition last week, but will be able to continue his professional career at Marseille...
Reigning French champions Olympique Marseille have confirmed the transfer of highly rated attacker Loic Remy from Nice. All parties involved had already agreed terms last week, but the transfer was put on hold after a medical examination revealed that Remy suffers from a heart condition.
Olympique Marseille club doctor Christophe Baudot has announced that following various tests performed earlier this week, Remy has been declared fit to continue to play at the top level. The young attacker's situation will however remain under medical supervision for one year.
The 23-year-old Remy has been one of the most sought after young forwards in Europe this transfer window, with Premier League rivals Liverpool, Arsenal, West Ham United, Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur all gunning for his signature over the summer.
However, the France international decided to stay in France instead and will wear the Marseille jersey in the 2010-11 campaign.
The Phoceens previously secured the services of Pierre-Andre Gignac and Cesar Azpilicueta, while Mamadou Niang left the club for a Turkish adventure at Fenerbahce.
