Bundesliga: Hamburg appoint Bert van Marwijk




Bundesliga strugglers Hamburg have appointed former Holland coach Bert van Marwijk as their new boss.
The club announced the 61-year-old had signed a contract until June 2015 to replace Thorsten Fink,
who was dismissed last week following the team's poor start to the season.
Van Marwijk led Holland to the 2010 World Cup final, where they lost to Spain, but left his position with the national team after they lost all three matches at Euro 2012.
Van Marwijk has coached in the Bundesliga before, having been in charge of Borussia Dortmund from 2004 to 2006. He has brought in Roel Coumans as his assistant.

Hamburg director of sport Oliver Kreuzer told the club website: "We're delighted that we have been able to appoint Bert van Marwijk as coach of HSV.
"He has a great deal of experience and has proven his ability many times."
Van Marwijk will not be on the bench for Hamburg's DFB-Pokal game against Greuther Furth on Tuesday night,
but will be officially presented at a press conference on Wednesday, when he will also lead his first training session at his new club.


Van Marwijk has also had two spells as manager of Feyenoord. His first season in northern Germany looks set to be a relegation battle.
Hamburg lie third bottom of the table with four points from their opening six games. They have lost their last two games, including a 6-2 hammering by Dortmund.
