LATE DRAMA AS BAYERN WIN 17TH DFB CUP AGAINST DORTMUNDr 
Berlin - FC Bayern Munchen clinched their 17th DFB Cup thanks to extra-time goals from Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller against Borussia Dortmund.The holders looked the more threatening side in a hard-fought first-half during which goalscoring chances were at a premium,
but both sides came close to breaking the deadlock in the second period of normal time.
Robben finally opened the scoring with twelve minutes remaining, before Muller sealed the
Bavarians' 10th domestic double at Berlin's Olympiastadion.
Bayern's good start With several players out injured, Pep Guardiola was forced to hand inexperienced midfielder Pierre Hojbjerg his first DFB Cup start.
Unruffled by the Catalan's tactical changes, the Bundesliga champions started brightly, dominating possession in the opening stages
and carving out two clear-cut opportunities within the first ten minutes of play, but Roman Weidenfeller was equal to efforts from Muller and Robben.
Dortmund reacted well to the Bavarians' early dominance, however, with Jurgen Klopp's charges looking particularly threatening on the counter-attack.
Robert Lewandowski looked lively against his future employers, keeping Bayern's defenders busy throughout.
The league's top scorer should have found the net shortly before the break, firing wide from the edge of the six-yard box moments
after Hojbjerg's long-range shot whistled past the left-hand post at the other end.
Chances at both ends It was an encouraging ending to the first half for Dortmund though, who had enjoyed a mere 30 per cent of the ball until then,
but emerged for the second period full of confidence. Bayern custodian Manuel Neuer appeared to misjudge Marco Reus' deflected free-kick
on the hour-mark, which bounced off the top of the crossbar, before the impressive Mats Hummels saw his headed effort nodded off the goalline by Dante.
The Reds weren't without their chances themselves, however, with Muller volleying Franck Ribery's cross straight at Weidenfeller,
while Robben forced a brilliant reaction save from the Borussia keeper with a deflected 18-yard shot. Both sides seemed keen to clinch a winner in regular time,
but Nuri Sahin and Mario Gotze both spurned promising openings at either end as the game headed into extra-time.
Robben breaks deadlock Dortmund substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saw an effort fly just past the right-hand post sixty seconds into the additional 30 minutes,
but Bayern seemed to regain the upper hand as extra-time progressed.
The Munchner's probing finally paid dividends 13 minutes from time as Jerome Boateng's cross was slotted home at the far post by Robben.
The Dutchman could have added a second shortly after, before Marco Reus went within a whisker of an equaliser as the clock ticked past 120 minutes.
Dortmund threw bodies forward in the dying stages, but Muller eventually sealed Bayern's win, rounding Weidenfeller to slot into an open net.
