Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund bottom after 2-0 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt



Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp says he will not quit despite taking "full responsibility" for his team's slump to the foot of the Bundesliga.

Last season's runners-up are bottom after 13 games following Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt.

"There's no tendency for a coaching change," said Klopp, who led Dortmund to the 2013 Champions League final.

"Until someone comes along and tells me otherwise, I can't go away. I can't go until there's a better solution."

Klopp, who steered Dortmund to back-to-back German titles in 2011 and 2012, has watched his side cruise into the Champions League knockout phase by winning four of their five Group D matches.

But their domestic form has been totally different with the team losing eight matches in their worst start to a German top-flight season.

"If it was only based on luck, and if a coaching change was guaranteed to bring the luck back, then I wouldn't stand in the way," Klopp added.

Frankfurt captain Alexander Meier - the Bundesliga's top scorer - fired in the early opener with his eighth goal of the season.

And a mis-timed header from Dortmund defender Matthias Ginter allowed Switzerland striker Haris Seferovic to out-sprint visiting goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller and tap in Frankfurt's second.

Dortmund, who have 11 points from 13 matches, dropped to the bottom of the table on Saturday after Werder Bremen and Stuttgart picked up wins over Paderborn and Freiburg.

Bundesliga round-up: Dortmund stay bottom after 11th defeat of the season as Augsburg move up to fourth



Last season's Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund crashed to a 1-0 defeat by 10-man Augsburg to remain bottom of the table with 15 games remaining.

The 2011 and 2012 Bundesliga champions looked devoid of ideas throughout and continually lacked a final pass in front of a sold-out 80,000 home crowd and were easily outmuscled by European hopefuls Augsburg with Raul Bobadilla netting the 50th minute winner.

Surprise packages Augsburg, who moved up to fourth, had Christoph Janker sent off midway through the second half, but were able to shut out Dortmund with relative ease over the closing half hour.

Dortmund, who take on Juventus in the Champions League round of 16 this month, are bottom on 16 points after their 11th league loss this season.

Hamburg eased their relegation fears after they beat Paderborn 3-0, ending their league goal drought after 398 minutes.

Rafael van der Vaart converted a penalty after Hamburg were awarded the fastest Bundesliga spot-kick this season just eight seconds into the game.

Goals from Marcell Jansen and Zoltan Schieber made sure of the three points and lifted Hamburg to 13th.

Bayer Leverkusen edged past Hertha Berlin 1-0 to move into fifth, a point behind Augsburg, while Werder Bremen won 2-1 at Hoffenheim and Cologne played out a goalless draw with Stuttgart.

Before kick-off, Freiburg's 4-1 comeback win at home to Eintracht Frankfurt had lifted Christian Streich's side up to 13th to send Dortmund bottom for the first time since November.

But Jurgen Klopp's Dortmund failed to break the hosts' defence at Leverkusen's BayArena as Borussia's Italy striker Ciro Immobile squandered a string of second-half chances.


Schalke 04's star striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will miss Tuesday's Bundesliga clash at leaders Bayern Munich after being sent off in their 1-0 league win over Hanover 96.

Werder Bremen piled the misery on Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund with a 2-1 Bundesliga win at the Weserstadion on Saturday.

Davie Selke put the hosts in front and Fin Bartels added a second before Mats Hummels grabbed a consolation for the Westphalians, who completed their worst ever first half of a season with just 15 points - and 10 defeats.
