Swansea City are weighing up a move to re-sign striker Wilfried Bony from Manchester City.

The Ivorian left the Swans for the Etihad Stadium on a four-year contract in 2015 for a fee worth up to £28m.

Bony, 28, managed only eight goals in 46 appearances for City - more than half of which came as a substitute - and spent last season on loan at Stoke.

His potential return to Wales could depend on the future of Swansea's top scorer last season, Fernando Llorente.

The 32-year-old, who is currently sidelined with an arm injury, has been a transfer target for Chelsea, having worked with the Premier League champions' manager, Antonio Conte, at Juventus.

Swansea have yet to receive a bid this summer for the Spain international, who scored 15 goals last season to help the Welsh club avoid relegation from the top flight.

The Swans did reject offers for Llorente during the January transfer window, and a move for Bony could be seen as insurance should Llorente leave.

Swansea signed England Under-21 striker Tammy Abraham on a season-long loan from Chelsea earlier this summer.

But with club record signing Borja Baston on loan at Malaga, the Swans could be short of forward options if Llorente was to leave.

Before Baston's arrival, Bony was Swansea's record signing when he joined from Vitesse Arnhem for £12m in 2013.

He scored 34 goals in all competitions for the Swans before his move to City.

Bony's high wages at City were thought to be a stumbling block for a potential return to the Liberty Stadium, though Swansea could soon have more money if midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson joins Everton.

Bony left south Wales for Manchester for £25m in January 2015 and his return on a two-year deal coincides with Fernando Llorente's move to Tottenham.

The fee for Bony is thought to be £12m.

The Ivorian's two-year contract has an option for a further season.

Bony scored 25 Premier League goals for Swansea before his move to Manchester.

He was tracked by the Swans in recent weeks as they prepared for the departure of last-season's top scorer Llorente, who was also a target for Chelsea.

Wilfried Bony is en route to Swansea for his medical after the club agreed a fee earlier today with Manchester City, thought to be in the region of £12m.

He will certainly know how to get there seeing as he left the Liberty Stadium for the Etihad in January 2015. He also had a loan spell at Stoke but it’s always that decision when you’re travelling to South Wales: ‘do I take the M4 and pay the toll or go on the M50 and get in for free?’

Should be done with a few hours to spare and once that deal is completed that should be it for Paul Clement and Swansea.

Hellas Verona's pursuit of Wilfried Bony may have come to an end.
Manchester City has told the Italian club that they do not wish to loan him out, and would rather sell outright to Swansea City instead.
It looks like Bony will be staying in the Premier League.

Fees have now been agreed with Manchester City for striker Wilfred Bony believed to be in the region of £12m.

Wilfried Bony has said yes to Hellas Verona.
Now the Italian club awaits the response from Manchester City for their proposal for a loan deal.
The Ivorian also had another Premier League suitor in Swansea City, the same club that sold him to Manchester City.
His ex-club would like to reacquire him but the player himself would prefer to play with Verona at the moment.
Verona's confidence is growing that a deal can be closed.
