Swansea winger Daniel James has agreed personal terms with Manchester United, Sky Sports News understands.

The two clubs are yet to agree a deal, contrary to reports, but talks are continuing and James is set to become United's first signing of the summer

It is understood United are close to agreeing a £15m fee with the Championship club for James, who has one year left on his contract.

James, 21, came close to joining Leeds in January, but the deal fell through on Deadline Day.

Sky Sports News understands James underwent a medical but the Welsh side pulled the plug on the move just hours before the window shut.

James was named in Ryan Giggs' Wales squad for their Portugal training camp ahead of next month's Euro 2020 qualifying round matches against Croatia and Hungary.

He scored his debut international goal for Wales, under the management of United legend Giggs, during a man-of-the-match display in the 1-0 win over Slovakia in Cardiff in March.

A number of other Premier League sides are also interested in the Wales international, according to Sky sources.

Daniel James: Swansea City winger set to complete Man Utd move

Wales winger Daniel James is set to complete a move to Manchester United after the Red Devils agreed a deal with Swansea City worth about £18m.

James, 21, is expected to finalise the transfer before Wales' Euro 2020 qualifier in Croatia on Saturday.

The deal will see United pay about £15m up front for the twice-capped international, with the remainder of the fee in add-ons.

It is thought personal terms are agreed with a medical scheduled for today.

James will become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first signing since becoming United manager.

He had been on the verge of a January move to Leeds before talks broke down, and impressive performances in the Championship and for Wales has led to him being linked to a number of clubs since.

The Swansea academy product - signed as a schoolboy from Hull in 2016 - made his breakthrough last season, scoring four goals in 38 appearances, while also scoring on his first Wales start against Slovakia.

Former club Hull are due a sell-on fee from the deal of about 5% of the up-front transfer.

James has been included in the Wales squad for Saturday's Euro 2020 qualifier in Croatia and Tuesday's game in Budapest against Hungary and the move is unlikely to affect his availability.

United had been haggling over the fee for James. Thought they could get him for around £10m, but the fee will rise to around £22m with add-ons.
Late interest from Monaco put Swansea in a strong bargaining position.
