Chelsea will not stand in the way of Maurizio Sarri if Juventus offer to pay up to £5million in compensation to take him back to Italy.

Sarri has emerged as one of the leading candidates for the Juve job, following the departure of Max Allegri, and Chelsea are aware of interest in their head coach from Italy with Roma also seeking a new manager.

The Blues will not make any decision over the future of Sarri, who was twice close to being sacked this season, until after the Europa League final against Arsenal next week.

Qualification to the Champions League along with the possibility of a trophy had enhanced Sarri’s prospects of holding on to his Chelsea job for a second season, although his criticism of the club’s post-season trip to America did not go down well.

Sarri has publicly insisted that he wants to stay in Chelsea and England, but there are suspicions that he would privately be keen on a return to Serie A.

With doubts over his future remaining and the club still concerned about his relationship with a group of match-going supporters, Chelsea would not try to hold Sarri against his will if he expressed a desire to succeed Allegri at Juve.

The 60-year-old has 12 months remaining on his £5m-a-year contract, which means Chelsea would demand compensation if Juve make a move.

Allowing Sarri to join Juve, or any other club, would save Chelsea the threat of another legal battle with a manager in the event they sacked him either during the summer or next season.

Chelsea’s dispute with former head coach Antonio Conte went to a Premier League tribunal and could end up costing them more than £9m.

Were Chelsea to collect compensation for Sarri, then they could reinvest the money in to appointing his successor. Frank Lampard is one candidate who still has two years remaining on his Derby County contract.

Chelsea have confirmed that Olivier Giroud has signed a one-year contract extension and the striker said: “I am very happy to sign a new contract. I really wanted to stay at least one more year - I have felt a part of the team, the family, since the beginning and hopefully there will be more trophies to come.”

車路士在聲明中表示，仍然有2年合約在身的沙利（Maurizio Sarri）主動要求離隊，而且球會跟祖雲達斯達成共識，所以決定提早終止這名老帥的合約；盛傳祖記需向車仔付出500鎊補償金。

車仔總監嘉露芙絲佳雅表示，沙利在歐霸盃決賽後提出了離隊的請求：「他表明回到意大利的意願，亦解釋了跟家人更接近及照護年老父母的重要性。」祖雲達斯同時亦宣佈沙利成為新任教練，雙方簽約至2022年6月30日。

60歲的沙利於去年夏天才入主車路士，帶領球隊拿下英超季軍、歐霸盃冠軍，得以在來季重返歐聯。不過，他整季都不受車仔球迷歡迎，更曾在比賽時遭自家球迷喝倒采。

Chelsea have agreed to release Maurizio Sarri to Juventus after finally agreeing a compensation package that could be worth over £5million.

And that will now free the Blues to step up talks over a potential return to Stamford Bridge for club legend Frank Lampard.

Juventus had hoped to take Sarri back to Italy without having to pay any compensation, believing Chelsea were happy to let their head coach go.

But, despite almost sacking him twice last season, Chelsea were determined that Juventus should pay up Sarri’s contract.

Sarri had one year, worth around £5m, on his deal, with the option of a further 12 months. It is understood that Juventus will have to pay more than £5m if certain bonuses are met while the 60-year-old is in charge. The final figure could be as high as £8m.

Chelsea have agreed to let Sarri go after just a year in charge after he informed them that he wanted to return to Italy after winning the Europa League.

It is also understood that Sarri expressed a desire to return to his native country on at least two different occasions during the season, when he was facing difficulties.

That resulted in fears over Sarri’s commitment and how a second season might go, particularly if he started badly.

Juventus Sporting Director Fabio Paratici met with representatives from Lyon, Chelsea, and Manchester United today to discuss several possible transfers.

Next, he travelled to London, where he first stopped by to keep in contact with The Blues regarding manager Maurizio Sarri: he is hoping to finalize the former Napoli manager's move to the Bianconeri, without having to pay compensation to the Premier League side.

Maurizio Sarri is likely to leave his role as Chelsea head coach in the next 24 hours, according to Sky in Italy.

Our colleagues reported on Friday that the Italian would be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge after just one season in charge to become head coach at Juventus.

Sarri guided Chelsea to the League Cup final, a third-place finish in the Premier League and also won the Europa League in his first season at the club.

Maurizio Sarri is set to join Juventus on a three-year contract after securing his release from Chelsea.

The Italian’s agent, Fali Ramadani, met with the Premier League club on Friday and came to an agreement with the Chelsea hierarchy that means Sarri is free to join Juventus. The Serie A club, champions in Italy for the last eight seasons, are confident they will not have to pay a fee for the 60-year-old, who was a rival to the Turin club when coach of Napoli.

Sarri only joined Chelsea last summer after three years at Napoli, replacing compatriot Antonio Conte but despite winning the Europa League and qualifying for next season’s Champions League, last season was an uneasy campaign in west London. Chelsea also reached the Carabao Cup final, but lost that against Manchester City in a game that will be remembered for the farcical scenes that followed the goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga refusing to be substituted before the penalty shoot-out.

The news of Sarri’s departure, although long anticipated, came on the same day that Real Madrid announced the signing of Eden Hazard, Chelsea’s star player, for an initial £88.5m, which could rise to as much as £130m.

The club are also facing a two-window transfer ban from Fifa after being found guilty of breaching rules regarding their dealings with overseas players under the age of 18. Chelsea confirmed on Friday they have appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

To replace Sarri, Chelsea will now look to former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri, Nuno Espírito Santo of Wolves, Javi Gracía of Watford, Laurent Blanc, a free agent since being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain in 2016, and former player and all-time leading goalscorer Frank Lampard, who led Derby to the Championship play-offs in his first season in management.
