Giovani Lo Celso: Tottenham make a £53m bid for Real Betis midfielder

Tottenham have made a bid of about 60m euros (£53m) for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

But Lo Celso has a 100m euro (£88m) release clause and it is understood Betis want to sell him for a fee closer to that amount.

Spurs will face competition for the 23-year-old Argentine with other Premier League clubs interested.

The Londoners have not signed a player since January 2018 when they paid Paris St-Germain £23m for winger Lucas Moura.

Tottenham's record signing is Davinson Sanchez - they spent £42m on Ajax's Colombia centre-back in August 2017.

Lo Celso initially joined Betis on a season-long loan in August 2018 from PSG but the La Liga club triggered their option to buy the player in April for 22m euros.

He scored 16 goals and registered six assists in 45 games for Betis last season and has been named in Argentina's squad for the Copa America, which starts on 14 June in Brazil.

Giovani Lo Celso wants to move to Tottenham this summer and join up with Mauricio Pochettino, Sky Sports News has been told.

The Argentinian is keen to move to the Premier League and is hoping current club Real Betis will allow him to leave.

Spurs remain in talks with Betis and are hopeful of concluding a deal for the attacking midfielder, SSN understands.

But the Spanish club, who only recently made his loan from PSG permanent, are asking for a significant transfer fee as close to his £88m release clause as possible.

Any deal would almost certainly smash Tottenham’s transfer record - but Pochettino is understood to have been given the chance to spend a significant chunk of Spurs’ Champions League revenue early in this transfer window.

The club will then look to accrue further funds through player sales and reinvest in improving the squad ahead of next season.

呢類咁既支出，從來都唔會係一次過清還。一定係長期貨款，分若干年去償還。如果一日未找清呢條數一日就唔買得人既話，熱刺摺得了。

只要財務健康，唔需要等球場筆數還清先可以買人的。


最重要最重要係，打入歐聯決賽令熱刺增加一筆極之可觀既額外收入（我諗佢地自己都從來無諗過可以打到入決賽）。呢筆收入大大有利佢地既財政狀況。

而且，球場已經可以啟用！即係，連帶衡常既收入都會大大增加（因為多左座位，連票價都加埋，門票收入會有好顯注既增加）。
