Half of the first six Gameweeks have Friday deadlines.
Here's a quick recap of the how fixture clashes could affect the FPL schedule (you can see all these clashes on my spreadsheet):
Gameweek 18 - Blank for LIV + WHU due to clash with Club World Cup (tbc)
Gameweek 21, 22, 24 or 25 - Most likely date for LIV + WHU's Double GW
Gameweek 28 - Possible Blank GW due to clash with EFL Cup Final
(Could be avoided if neither team involved in a postponement reaches FA Cup 5th Round)
Gameweek 31 - Definite Blank GW due to clash with FA Cup QFs
Gameweek 34 - Clashes with FA Cup SFs, but is also followed by a free midweek (which will receive postponed fixtures), so there won't be much disruption. Last time this happened, three teams got a DGW and one team got a Blank GW.
GW37 - Definite Double GW. Expect either 6, 8, 10 or 12 teams to have an extra fixture.
Possible Chip Strategy:
Triple Captain - Salah vs WHU + (SHU/tot/wol/SOU) in GW 21/22/24/25
Free Hit - Blank GW31
Bench Boost - Double GW37
It'll be easier to navigate the Blanks and Double GWs this year, so I'm more likely to use my second Wildcard to fix my team in the third quarter of the season.
If I don't need to fix my team, I'll use my Wildcard in GW36 to build a great Bench Boost team for DGW37.
