Pjanic: Dzeko will join Manchester City
Edin Dzeko's international team-mate Miralem Pjanic has told Soccernet that the Bosnia striker is very keen on joining Manchester City from Wolfsburg and that he will be a star in England.
City have been repeatedly linked with Dzeko, 24, over the summer and although they opted not to exercise a £34 million release clause in his contract at the end of May, Roberto Mancini said in July he had "more than just an interest" in the Wolfsburg star.
While Inter Milan forward Mario Balotelli continues to be City's primary target, it is reported that Emmanuel Adebayor has been told he can leave Eastlands and Dzeko, who finished last season as the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 22 goals, would be an obvious replacement.
Pjanic, who was named man of the match in Lyon's 1-1 draw with AC Milan at the Emirates Cup on Sunday, certainly expects to see Dzeko at Eastlands sooner rather than later.
"Edin has a very strong will to come to England, he is a top class player who should play in England," Pjanic told Soccernet through an interpreter. "He is one of the best attackers. He has got a brilliant future and I think he will come to England.
"Manchester City are starting to build a very good team and he is interested in the challenge. At the end of the day it is going to happen. Edin does really want to go to Manchester City and Manchester is a great team."
Pjanic, 20, was himself linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer of 2008 as Arsenal were rumoured to be interested in signing the talented playmaker, who opted to join Lyon from Metz.
While he professes to know little about Arsenal's interest in him two years ago, Pjanic is open in admitting that he would like to move to the Premier League at some point in the future.
"My agent deals with that," he said, regarding Arsenal's reported interest. "I have been concentrating on my work mainly, I know there were discussions about it but I don't know anything.
"Of course I would want to play in England. If I leave Lyon it will be for a bigger club. English clubs and the English championship are very attractive.
"I have a very strong desire to come here, but at the moment I feel very good in Lyon and I am going to concentrate on my job and do my best to have a better season than last season."
