GDS, the camera-based goal-line technology system provided by Hawk-Eye, was introduced for the first time in the Barclays Premier League this weekend and
on Sunday proved effective in assisting the match officials to make a correct decision at Stamford Bridge.

Using a dedicated high-speed camera capable of removing the players from the image to ensure the ball is fully visible, Hawk Eye's subsequent video replay of the incident, which was broadcast on the big screen at the ground and on television within 10 seconds of its taking place, showed that the whole of the ball had not crossed the goal-line.There were no protests from the Chelsea players and their manager Jose Mourinho, fourth official Andre Marriner and Hull manager Steve Bruce shared a laugh about the matter at the end of the half.
