Blackpool manager Ian Holloway admits his bid to sign striker Robbie Fowler could fall through due to financial issues.

The former Liverpool and England frontman is currently training with the Seasiders having most recently spent time plying his trade in Australia and Thailand.

Holloway has previously revealed the 36-year-old is in talks with Pool over a possible contract and could sign until the end of the season.

However, the manager has revealed negotiations have hit a snag due to the striker's cost.

He told The Sun: "If things stay as they are then Robbie won't sign.

"It's not the figure itself, it's how it's split up and how much he's got to play to earn."

Former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler looks set to reject Blackpool's offer of a deal at Bloomfield Road.

Free agent Fowler had been training at Blackpool ahead of a prospective move to the Championship hopefuls.

Seasiders boss Ian Holloway was hoping to agree a deal to sign Fowler, but he admitted earlier this week the move looked in danger of collapsing.

Reports suggested Fowler had turned down the offer of a £5,000 appearance bonus, and just £100 per week if he did not play.

However, Fowler revealed on his Twitter account that he was offered a smaller amount than the figures suggested.

"Actually it was £90, but would need to play full 90 (minutes) to get full appearance bonus," Fowler tweeted.

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has confirmed a move for former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler has fallen through.

Holloway had hoped to add Fowler to his squad after the 36-year-old impressed during a training stint at Bloomfield Road.

Fowler revealed earlier this week that he rejected the club's offer of a £5,000 appearance bonus and just £90 per week if he did not play.

Holloway has admitted they could not agree terms with Fowler and that they have now moved on from the deal.

"I had a chat with my chairman and I had a chat with Robbie, and we aren't going to get that deal going," Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette.

"Karl Oyston's idea of what Robbie could do and how he could do it didn't match up with what Robbie wants. I had a go, but he doesn't feel this club is right for him.

"I'd have loved to have got him in as he would have offered us something different. There's no animosity. I really liked him but we have to move on now."
