Chung-Yong To Return To TrainingPosted on: Thu 19 Apr 2012
Owen Coyle has revealed that Chung-Yong Lee will step-up his recovery from injury and train with the reserve team this week. The Korean has been out of action for almost nine months after suffering a double leg fracture in the pre-season friendly against Newport County last July.
Coyle said: "Chungy is making significant progress. He continues to train well on the medical side and we're hoping that he'll be able to train with the reserves on Friday and Saturday.
"If he comes through that without any reaction then hopefully he can join in with the first team next week and step-up his training from there.
"We'd love to have him involved before the end of the season, but we've got to be careful not to do anything detrimental to his long-term future.
"We gave him a bit of time off last summer and I have to say, as a football lover, I was so excited to see him play. There was no doubt about it, he was going to be one of the outstanding players in the Barclays Premier League this season. Sadly, that was taken away from him.
"But, he's continued to work hard and has done well to get to the level he is at now. There's no about it, he's going to be a very special player."
