Werder Bremen make offer for Tottenham's Niko Kranjcar
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says he wants to keep hold of Niko Kranjcar after confirming Werder Bremen have made a bid for the Croatian midfielder.
Redknapp said: "There is a German club (Bremen) that have come in for him. They have offered good money for him but I'm not keen to lose Niko."
The 26-year-old has been unable to hold down a first-team place this season but Redknapp is not convinced he will move.
He said: "I don't think [Kranjcar] wants to go to Germany and play."
The Croatian was signed by Redknapp from Portsmouth for a fee in the region of £2m in September 2009 and played in the majority of Tottenham's games that season.
But he has been used more sparingly this term, featuring in only five Premier League matches.
Kranjcar's chances of regular first-team action appeared to recede with the signing of Steven Pienaar from Everton earlier this month, but Redknapp insists he still has a part to play.
"We have a lot of games coming up. We are going to need a squad," said the manager.
"These games are going to be coming thick and fast. It's going to be Saturday, midweek, Saturday, midweek. Niko is going to be an important player for us.
"He is a good player, a fantastic player. I don't think he feels that [Germany] is an option for him. If that's the case then he will stay here and that's great for us as well."
