Bale 'has told Spurs he wants to leave': Welsh winger to agree six-year deal with Real Madrid, according to Marca

Andre Villas-Boas once again claimed that Gareth Bale is not going anywhere this summer - but Spanish paper Marca claim a deal to take the Welsh wizard to Real Madrid is done.

The Spanish paper claim that Real are closing in on a six year deal for Bale worth £8.5million a year.

Marca also claim that Bale has told Spurs chiefs that he wants to go to the Bernabeu.





Villas-Boas, speaking ahead of the Barclays Asia Trophy, once again ruled out the possibility of Bale leaving this summer but confirmed the club’s interest in Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.

At the press conference in Hong Kong this morning, Villas-Boas revealed that Bale will not feature in Wednesday’s game against Sunderland after picking up an injury in training.

The Spurs boss said: ‘I want to repeat what I was telling you last season and what I was telling you from the beginning of pre-season so I cannot extend myself.

'He is a player that we are willing to continue to have, he’s a Tottenham player, he’s one of the most fantastic players in the world at the moment and we are counting on him for the future.

'Unfortunately against Sunderland he won’t be fit to play, he’s recovering from a knock he had in training so we expect him hopefully to have some involvement in the second game.’

Villas-Boas confirmed that Tottenham are closing in on Soldado, the 28-year-old Spain striker who is valued at £26million by Valencia.

The club’s director of football Franco Baldini is in Spain for talks as Spurs weigh up whether to raise their offer above £20m.

'At the moment he’s just one of the players we’re interested in,’ added Villas-Boas. ‘We are looking for a striker to strengthen our squad, to give us more strength in depth.

'Soldado is a player we have been following. His career speaks for itself. I think he is a great striker but there is isn’t any deal being struck at the moment, just interest and conversations.’

Tottenham continue to insist Gareth Bale will not be sold despite reports in Spain that a deal is already agreed.

Sports daily Marca, which is well known for its close allegiance to Real, claimed on Tuesday a six-year contract has been prepared for English football's double player of the year.

The report also suggested Bale will be paid 10m Euros (£8.6m) a season and has already told Spurs he wants to leave.

But speaking at a press conference in Hong Kong, where Spurs are preparing for the Asia Trophy, Andre Villas-Boas repeated the stance on Bale he has taken since before the end of last season.

The Spurs manager said: "On Gareth, I want to repeat what I was telling you last season and what I was telling you from the beginning of (pre-season) so I cannot extend myself.

"He is a player that we are willing to continue to have, he's a Tottenham player, he's one of the most fantastic players in the world at the moment and we are counting on him for the future."

Bale has given no public indication this summer that he wants to leave White Hart Lane and, speaking two weeks ago following a pre-season friendly, the Welshman spoke of his desire to push Tottenham towards Champions League qualification.

"I think everyone at the club wants us to finish in the top four, the club wants to be in the top four, and we need to go one better this season and finish in the top four," he said.

Bale won both the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year following a superb last season.

And former teammate Ledley King is convinced Bale will be part of Spurs' push for the Champions League next season.

"The season he had last year was a big part of our achievements, and he knows we'll be looking to do the same this season," he told Sky Sports News.

"I know Gareth's happy, he's come back in good spirits and I'm hoping he's going to have a good season again."

King also believes the 24-year-old will take the speculation over his future in his stride.

"I think you get used to it as a player," he added. "The kind of player he's grown to be, it's something that you have to deal with.

"He's a good lad, he's got a good head on his shoulders and he knows the main thing for him is just to concentrate on his football and the rest will take care of itself."

Gareth Bale will reject a move to Real Madrid because he does not want to leave his family.

The Evening Standard report that a 'close associate' of the Wales international has told them Bale is not interested in a move to Spain - at least this summer - because of the strong ties to his family.

This week, reports in Spain emerged that suggested Bale was on the verge of a move to Real Madrid, with Marca, the mouthpiece of the Bernabeu based club, going as far as to say he has already agreed a six-year deal.

However, Tottenham have denied that is the case and are determined to hold on to the forward.

They will be buoyed by the latest development in one of the summer's biggest transfer stories - although may fear it will offer encouragement to Manchester United who are also interested in signing the 24-year-old.

Bale became a father for the first time last October and is believed to be happy living in the capital with his long-term girlfriend Emma Rhys-Jones. While a move to Spain may be out of the question - a move to Manchester could be more palatable.

He has admitted in the past that he likes to visit his family back in Wales whenever he gets time off.

Marca today reiterated their confidence Bale will move to Real Madrid, pointing out the forward was not picked to play in the pre-season friendly defeat to Sunderland in Hong Kong.

However, his absence was due to sustaining a strained buttock in training last week and coach Andre Villas-Boas did not want to risk him.

Tottenham Hotspur have yet to respond to Real Madrid’s ?100 million bid for Gareth Bale, sources close to the process have told ESPN.

The situation is now at an increasingly tense impasse, with the Wales forward determined to go to the Bernabeu this summer, but Spurs chief executive Daniel Levy is just as strong in his refusal to sell.

Despite reports in the Spanish press being widely dismissed in the UK on Friday, it is understood that Madrid did indeed submit the offer and that Bale has also now made up his mind on leaving.

Aside from his long-held aspiration to play for Real, the 24-year-old feels it is finally time to experience regular football in the Champions League rather than potentially infrequent forays with Spurs.

Sources have also stated that there is now growing tension between Bale’s camp and Levy due to the London club's refusal to even entertain the possibility of a sale. Those close to the player also insist that there are no current negotiations to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane and he actively wants to leave this summer.

When asked about Bale after his side’s 6-0 win over South China, however, Villas-Boas refused to be drawn into a discussion. "I don't want to comment on anything like that," he said. "I cannot speak about anything."

Bale is not expected to play in Tottenham’s friendly against Monaco on August 3.
