Holders Manchester United will face former defender Jaap Stam when they host Reading in the FA Cup third round. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola's first experience of the world's oldest knock-out cup competition will be against West Ham at the London Stadium. Arsenal, who lifted the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015, face a potentially tricky tie at Preston while their north London rivals Tottenham also face Sky Bet Championship opposition in Aston Villa at White Hart Lane. Liverpool host either Newport or Plymouth and Premier League leaders Chelsea have also been given a home draw, against Notts County or Peterborough. Barrow will be at home to League One Rochdale after upsetting Bristol Rovers, and fellow non-league side Sutton will entertain League Two AFC Wimbledon. The reward for the winners of the replay between Halifax and Eastleigh is a trip to Griffin Park to face Championship side Brentford.
As well as West Ham v Man City, there are three other all-Premier League ties in the shape of Hull v Swansea, Sunderland v Burnley and Everton v Leicester.
Northern Premier Division club Stourbridge will be heading to League Two Wycombe if they can get past Northampton in a rearranged second-round tie.
Premier League sides who face tricky trips to lower league opposition include last season's runners-up Crystal Palace, who will be at Bolton, Southampton, who take on Norwich at Carrow Road, and Bournemouth, who must travel to the Den for a tie with Millwall.
