Radamel Falcao in transfer talks with Chelsea



Monaco striker Radamel Falcao is speaking to Chelsea about a possible transfer, Sky sources understand.

The Premier League champions are one of several clubs that Falcao is talking to as he looks to revive his career following a poor season on loan at Manchester United.

The Colombia striker struggled during his season on loan at Old Trafford, finding the net just four times in 29 games before United boss Louis van Gaal released the 29-year-old after deciding not to take up the option on a permanent deal believed to be worth £44m.

Falcao, who has the same agent as Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, could be a replacement for veteran striker Didier Drogba who will leave the Premier League champions in the summer.

Mourinho has already said he expects to make two or three signings during the summer but the only stumbling block to Falcao's arrival at Stamford Bridge could be his wages, which weigh in at more than £250,000 per week.

Chelsea news: Radamel Falcao desperate to push through move before start of Copa America



Radamel Falcao wants to complete a move to Chelsea before Colombia start their Copa America campaign on June 14.
As reported by the Telegraph last month, Falcao is desperate to join Chelsea this summer and is prepared to take a big cut to his £265,000-a-week wages to make a deal happen.
Monaco want a £5 million loan fee for striker Falcao and negotiations have been taking place with Chelsea over exactly how the transfer could be structured.
Falcao has been named captain of the Colombian national team for this summer’s Copa America in Chile and ideally wants his future sorted out before his tournament starts.
Colombia play their first game against Venezuela on June 14, with the Copa America scheduled to run until July 4.
With Didier Drogba leaving Chelsea, manager Jose Mourinho will sign a new back-up striker and believes Falcao could prove to be a steal.
Despite the 29-year-old suffering a disappointing season on loan at Manchester United, Falcao believes he is ready to show his best form again after returning from cruciate ligament damage that ruled him out of last summer’s World Cup.
Mourinho hopes that a season of acclimatisation to England and the Premier League will also see Falcao return to somewhere near his best at Stamford Bridge.
Should Falcao succeed during a season-long loan at Chelsea, then Monaco want a written agreement that the Blues would have to pay £35m to sign him permanently.
United rejected the chance to buy Falcao for £43.5m this summer after he only scored four goals for the Old Trafford club.
Champions League finalists Juventus, Valencia and Zenit St Petersburg have also shown an interest in Falcao, but the player favours a move to Chelsea.
Falcao shares the same agent as Mourinho, Jorge Mendes, which has helped all parties try to find a deal that is mutually beneficial.
